Travis McMichael, the man who fatally shot Ahmaud Arbery in February 2020, was sentenced to life in prison in a federal courtroom on Monday. His father, Greg McMichael also received a life sentence, while William "Roddie" Bryan received a sentence of 35 years. The trio had petitioned to immediately go to federal prison to serve their state sentences citing safety concerns, but were denied by the judge.
