Nationwide protests have taken place since October 7 despite the disbanding of the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) police unit.

The demonstrators have been accused of attacking police stations and personnel.

The rallies which are mostly attended by young people have become avenues to vent against corruption and unemployment.

Rights groups say at least 15 people have been killed the demonstrations began in early October.

In line with its house provision mandate, Homelink has delivered comfortable lowto medium density houses in Bindura’s Brockdale. To date at least 100 families are currently housed in the suburb, a significant contribution towards both the growth and development of Bindura town, as well as expansion of the national housing stock. Brockdale, Bindura housing units are in a development located 4.3km from Bindura town along Shamva road, opposite Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU). The site has 329 completed housing units with only 180 units remaining. The housing units are ideal for start-up families and also pose as a good investment opportunity considering the proximity to the University. “We are pleased with the development and can confirm that we have adequately catered for all income brackets, both local and diaspora. We recently also opened up mortgage financing for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Embassies and International Organisations employees. The houses are currently selling and are moving fast because of their affordable nature.” Said Mr. Wellington Mutizwa Acting Managing Director for Homelink The Brockdale housing project, is just one of several projects which Homelink is undertaking across the country. Come December 2020 the institution will deliver modern and imposing cluster units in Marlborough Harare. Homelink seeks to extend these essential amenities to thousands of households across the country at reasonable costs in support of Government’s target of attaining upper middle-income status by 2030. Homelink has acquired vast land banks to construct housing facilities for Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora, low income and middle-income earners, amid a growing accommodation backlog. NIGERIAN YOUTH WILL NOT BE SILENCED BY POLICE BRUTALITY

Peaceful protests against police brutality in Lagos turned bloody on Tuesday.

News which soon took hold of the Twittersphere as users worldwide shared videos of Nigerian armed forces opening fire on #EndSARSNow demonstrators.

Bridget Ugwe spoke with Steve Dede, Senior Editor at Pulse Nigeria. He shares his recollection of events.

Steve Dede : At about 7.15 or 7.30 pm yesterday, we started hearing reports on how some military men, officers came there and opened fire on protesters. I was not there. A couple of us were not there but we got to watch it live from a DJ, Dj Switch, she was doing a live of the events on Instagram yesterday. And about 135,000 people were live as I was watching. And on that live I saw someone who was shot and they were trying to remove the bullets from the person's head. So this thing happened, it's not allegedly or anything of that sort. Since yesterday I've spoken to about ten different people when doing my report at Pulse, who confirmed the incident, who were there, who have been in the hospital you know.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor paid a visit to the wounded protestors at the hospital and demanded that an investigation be opened.

However, trust between Nigerian youth and their institutions seems to have reached its breaking point.

Steve Dede : There's no trust between the government and the people. So even Sanwo going there with a photographer that took pictures of himself and the victims ... it looks like just politics you know, going there with a photographer when people are literally dying and fighting for their lives, and you are going to visit them with a photographer and you are putting it on Twitter. It's really insensitive, so we still don't believe him. A governor of a State can't tell us that he is not aware that military men were going to attack protesters in his own State. So we really don't believe him, people don't believe him.

As the African Union and other regional organisations have yet to react, Steve relays what he believes is the message of the Nigerian youth to officials.

Steve Dede : Our message to them is do something. You can't just sit down and watch. We understand that the president of the country is friends with the other heads of states and they form the African Union so that's why it's difficult to talk about it but we have to keep keeping ourselves accountable to one another. That's the only thing that can make this continent great. Look at what the EU is doing, look at other unions do around the world. The African Union has to come together and set personal relationships aside and look at the common goal that is, what would make the continent better and start looking at it.

Instead of thwarting the revolution, the Lekki toll gate shooting set ablaze a louder call for an uprising.

Steve Dede : What we do know is that a lot of people are waiting for the curfew to end so that they would go back on the streets because they have to protest. The Nigerian police is still not

Young supporters of Guinean opponent Cellou Dalien Diallo, who has declared himself the winner of the presidential election, clashed with police on Wednesday in the Wanindara district of the country's capital Conakry.

African election monitors said Tuesday that Guinea's weekend election was conducted properly, but the political opposition to incumbent Alpha Conde, which has already claimed victory, dismissed it as fraudulent.

Preliminary results for four of the country's 38 voting districts released by electoral commission chief Kabinet Cisse late Tuesday showed a strong lead for Conde over his main challenger Cellou Dalein Diallo, who had claimed victory Monday.

In three of the four districts, Conde secured more than the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff vote, although an electoral commission official told AFP it was \"impossible to extrapolate\" to the final national result, expected later this week.

\"Alpha Conde is doing everything possible to change ballot-box results in his favour\" Diallo's campaign director Fode Oussou Fofana had earlier told reporters in the capital Conakry.

The opposition campaign has been setting the stage for an election dispute, with Fofana accusing the government of \"large-scale fraud\" in counting ballots from the hotly contested October 18 poll.

Conde, 82, is seeking a controversial third presidential term, a move that has triggered months of deadly unrest in the West African nation.

- Augustin Matata Ponyo, the African Union's head of mission in Guinea, said the ballot took place \"in transparency\" while the head of the West African ECOWAS monitoring mission said the vote was lawful.

Celebrations in Conakry of Diallo's self-proclaimed victory quickly descended into violent clashes with security forces, in which several youngsters were shot dead, opposition officials said.

Meanwhile in a seeming response to Diallo's self-proclaimed win, security forces dressed in riot gear surrounded his house in the capital. He tweeted that he was trapped inside.

- 'Irresponsible and dangerous' -

Security forces killed dozens of people in protests against a Conde third term, which began in October last year--.

Although polling day was mostly calm, Diallo's self-proclaimed election victory has ratched up tensions in the former French colony of some 13 million people.

The government insists the vote was fair and that only the official electoral authority can declare the results.

Conde's RPG party also called Diallo's move \"irresponsible and dangerous\" on Monday.

The international community is concerned too. The United Nations, African Union, and the 15-nation ECOWAS called the premature declaration of results \"regrettable\", in a joint statement on Monday.

\"This state of affairs is not conducive to preserving calm,\" the statement said.

But on Tuesday, the communications director for Diallo's UFDG party, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, said the party's own analysis of polling data collected from individual stations showed the opposition leader had won over 50 percent of the vote

Anti-Police Brutality Protest Sees Police Brutality

National armed forces opened fire on Nigerian youth in Lagos at an anti-police brutality demonstration on Tuesday — injuring around 50 people and shooting at least 20 dead, as per unconfirmed reports

Amnesty International which has already condemned the use of excessive force by the Nigerian police to subdue protesters, stated there was ``\"credible but disturbing evidence'' of the incident.

\"While we continue to investigate the killings, Amnesty International wishes to remind the authorities that under international law, security forces may only resort to the use of lethal force when strictly unavoidable to protect against the imminent threat of death or serious injury,\" Amnesty tweeted.

#EndSARS, #EndSWAT and Police Reform.

The escalation in violence comes two weeks after the #EndSarsNow movement took to the streets across Nigeria, following the circulation of video showing a man being beaten, apparently by police officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, known as SARS.

The government proclaimed the dissolution of the police unit which has been accused of human rights crimes including abuse, torture and killings but has since created the Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) in its stead further inciting the youth to seek complete police reform.
