The singing sensation gives an inside look into her latest project, “I think it's a bit more realistic, there are fewer punchlines, it's more melodic. "The way I see it, when you have no mental limitations, why would you limit yourself by saying, ‘okay, I'm going to be known only in France.’ When people ask me, ‘how does it feel to be known internationally?’ I don’t let it get to my head, because I just tell myself that I didn't hold back when making my music, I didn't say to myself, ‘If I sing that, will it be frowned upon? Will it be well-received?’ I just did what I liked. Some people may say to themselves, ‘Who does she think she is? She's mocking our French language’ all like ‘’I don't care, I'm going to invent new words,’’ what's her deal?’ When it’s not like that at all. I think it's important to accept other people’s cultures - especially when you are multicultural, that's how it is, you have to accept it."

BY WINSTONE ANTONIO WHILE the death of Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure (36) has continued to set tongues wagging on different social media platforms with many conspiracy theories, Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation deputy minister Tino Machakaire’s name was yesterday thrown into the ring amid claims that he had pledged to buy a coffin for the deceased. The socialite and businessman died when his Rolls-Royce Wraith II vehicle collided head-on with a Honda Fit along Borrowdale Road, Harare on Sunday morning while driving back to his Domboshava home. Ginimbi was in the company of Limumba Karim, believed to be from Malawi, socialite Mitchel “Moana” Amuli and Alichia Adams believed to be from Mozambique who all perished in the accident. They were all coming from Moana’s 26th birthday party at Ginimbi’s Club Dreams, formerly Sankayi in Harare’s avenues area. In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Machakaire denied the alleged coffin pledge. Ginimbi’s friends also dismissed reports that there was a coffin in the late’s mansion. “There are some people who are just good at spreading malice. I did not pledge to buy a coffin for Ginimbi, but instead I will be doing that for Gringo in partnership with Nyaradzo founder Phillip Mataranyika,” Machakaire said. Ginimbi’s friends’ spokesperson Chief Albert Ndabambi said the rumour that was being peddled on different social media platforms that there was a coffin and a snake vomiting cash in the house was evil. “It is sad that there are some people who do not appreciate hard work. Ginimbi was a hard worker and the on-going narrative to disrespect his hustles is sad especially to many youngsters who looked up to him as a role model and a source of inspiration,” he said. “People forget that Ginimbi did not just wake up with all the property he had, no he worked hard to amass it. If people can get time to talk to Tazvi Mhaka, Dino Tumbare, Brian Nyanyiwa and Chief Jose they will really come to understand how Ginimbi struggled to be where he was with his life.” Chief Albert said there was overwhelming evidence that Ginimbi worked for his lavish lifestyle. “Ginimbi started from scratch as he worked hard to create inroads for indigenous gas company and when others closed, he continued with the trade. Authorities have banned Wednesday's protest.
Demonstrators are demanding authorities layout concrete plans for decent living conditions and the cost of living in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Angola is a haven for oil sector expats with large pay packages and purchasing power, which is far from the reality locals live with.
Protesters are also asking for the revision of electoral legislation to guarantee free and fair elections.
Rights groups are urging Angola's authorities to respect the youth’s right to protest.
\"Angolan authorities must guarantee that protesters can exercise their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, which are protected by the Angolan constitution and international treaties ratified by the country,\" said Muleya Mwananyanda, Amnesty International's Deputy Director for Southern Africa.

BY SILAS NKALA FORMER Botswana President Festus Mogae and Choppies managing director Ottapathu Ramachandran have been sucked into the legal battle between former Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko and retail group, Choppies Enterprises. Mogae and Ramachandran are expected to explain their role in allegedly helping Choppies bypass provisions of Zimbabwe’s Indigenisation Act. The developments came after Mphoko and his son, Siqokoqela, recently sued Nanavac Investments in Bulawayo, Choppies Enterprises and Choppies Distribution Centre (Proprietary) Limited both in Gaborone, Botswana, demanding payment of their 51% shares which they held before they were “unlawfully” divested of their entire shareholding by the company. Latest revelations are that, in a letter addressed to Mphoko when the fallout started, Mogae who is former Choppies chairperson, had informed the Mphokos that they entered into partnership “with a clear understanding of the shareholding of 93% shares to Choppies Enterprise and 7% to the Mphoko family, free of charge”. The Mphoko family has since denied the 7% shares prescribed to them by Mogae indicating that they were the majority shareholders in terms of Zimbabwean laws. In their application filed at the Bulawayo High Court, the Mphokos claimed that at all material times, they were majority shareholders in Choppies, holding an aggregate of 51% shares therein. Mphoko and his son reportedly owned 25,5% each in a joint venture trading as Nanavac Investments, while Choppies Enterprises held the remaining 49%. Through their lawyer Zibusiso Ncube, the Mphokos said in or about 2018, a dispute arose between Siqokoqela and Choppies, which resulted in Choppies instituting legal proceedings against the former Vice-President’s son, his wife and Choppies in the High Court. Siqokoqela and his wife were immediately arrested for fraud. In order to secure their freedom, Siqokoqela on January 9, 2019 signed a deed of settlement with Choppies Enterprises in terms of which the Mphokos disposed of their shareholding to the company. The lawyers said as per the deed of settlement, the Mphokos were to be paid US$2 900 000 by Choppies for the acquisition of the Mphokos full rights and title to the first defendant’s shareholding. The lawyers said that deed of settlement was void because the Mphokos signed it under duress after the arrest and detention of Siqokoqela and his wife on malicious and false charges. The Mphokos are seeking an order declaring as unlawful the deed of settlement in terms of which they were divested of their entire shareholding in Choppies. They are also claiming US$22 585 714, representing the value of the 51% shareholding which they claim control in the retail group.

Multiple people were wounded Wednesday when an explosive device hit an international ceremony commemorating the end of World War I.
The event was being held at a cemetery in the Saudi city of Jeddah, according to French government officials.
Several countries had representatives at the ceremony, held at a cemetery for dead non-Muslims, the officials from the French Foreign Ministry said.
The identities of the victims were unclear.
Saudi state television broadcast from outside the cemetery and acknowledged that an attack involving an explosive device took place.
However it stressed that things were under control and the security situation was now \"stable.\"
The report said an official statement about the cause and casualty details was upcoming.
The stabbing was carried out by a Saudi man, who was arrested. His motives remain unclear.
