A November 26 letter from the presidency asked the head of Uganda's national drug authority to 'work out a mechanism' to clear the importation of the vaccines.
China has about five COVID-19 vaccine candidates at different levels of trials. It was not clear what vaccine was being imported into Uganda.
One of the frontrunners is the Sinopharm vaccine developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Product, a unit of Sinopharm’s China National Biotec Group (CNBG).
On Wednesday, the United Arab Emirates said the vaccine has 86% efficacy, citing an interim analysis of late-stage clinical trials.
China has used the drug to vaccinate up to a million people under its emergency use program.
On Tuesday, Morocco said it was ordering up to 10 million doses of the vaccine.

Uganda on Monday registered 701 new COVID-19 cases, the highest-ever daily increase, bringing its national count to 23,200.
The new cases were out of the 5,578 samples tested for the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, the country's health ministry said in a statement.
Tuesday's tally was 606, the second-highest ever number of new infections, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the east African country to 23,860.
Health authorities have blamed ongoing election campaigns which have drawn huge crowds for the rise in infections.

CARIBBEAN Airlines will, as of this weekend, be operating flights for Jamaicans stranded in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, The Bahamas, and Antigua and Barbuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith has announced.
The two Jamaicans had earlier told the Jamaica Observer that they were unable to return home because regional carrier Caribbean Airlines had been unable to fly to some territories because of border restrictions.
After learning yesterday that The Bahamas is one of the countries from which Caribbean Airlines flights will be repatriating Jamaicans, she contacted the airline but was told that the flights are only for students.
“Antigua border opened for international flights and Jamaica is now the same [for nationals], but Trinidad and Tobago hasn't opened their borders and Barbados hasn't opened their borders yet.
She was scheduled to do a third last month, but the closure of Jamaica's borders up until last week Monday and the difficulty faced to now get a return flight have dashed her hopes of completing the medical procedure any time soon.

Taking into account the current fundamentals and the recent prospects of the international oil market, the countries participating in the proceedings of the 11th ministerial meeting of Opep and non-Opep countries and the 179th Opep Ministerial Conference, under the chairmanship of Minister of Energy and current Chairman of OPEC Conference Mohamed Arkab, have decided to take several decisions aimed at ensuring the stability of the black gold prices, the same source said.

While people convicted with sexual offences will have the right to apply to the court for their information to be removed from the public sex offenders registry, their names will remain on the website if their challenge is unsuccessful.
A media release from the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Legal Affairs on Thursday responded to media reports which claimed that the public register of sex offenders would contain the locations, not the names of convicted sex offenders.
In their release, the ministry contended that the names of sex offenders would be included in the list unless exempted by a Court of Law.
The release further clarified that the specific addresses of sexual offenders will not be included on the public sex offender website, but will instead include their locality.
Citing the Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi's remarks during a Senate sitting on June 15, the release reiterated that the Police Commissioner will have a Public Sex Offenders website which will contain the general locality to prevent victimisation.
The website will not include the information of people who have already served their time or people who are still in prison.
The release noted that Al-Rawi did not agree to suggestions from the Opposition to have any member of the public (not just the alleged sex offender) to apply for being exempted from the register.

Floyd died on Memorial Day, May 25 after then-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds.
During that time, Floyd laid handcuffed on the ground – two other officers also holding him down, a fourth standing guard.
But I was just thinking…the larger-than-life question, the elephant on that sidewalk where Floyd died, is: why did none of the three other officers intervene while the evil faced, hands-in-pocket alleged murderer Chauvin performed his prolonged, demonic, fatal deed?
Hopkins has been very vocal in various media about his association’s position on the Floyd killing – particularly actions of the three rookie officers.
In a lengthy LinkedIn interview with broadcast journalist Tashara Parker, also a WFAA-TV (Channel 8) anchor, Hopkins said rookie officers are free to challenge a veteran officer; and in Floyd’s case, the three other officers should have stepped in to stop Chauvin.

Former Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga’s influence in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration is expected to grow further, with reports suggesting that he is being considered for a key role on a team to steer the country’s post-pandemic economic recovery efforts.
Speculation about a role for the former prime minister on the economic recovery council will especially unsettle the faction of the ruling Jubilee Party loyal to the Deputy President William Ruto.
The pro-Ruto camp blames Mr Odinga for fuelling the falling out in the ruling party, and sees the BBI reforms campaigns as part of a grand scheme to block Mr Ruto from succeeding President Kenyatta in 2022.
