I write with deep concern following the recent acts of violence, carried out by sections of our youth taking to the streets, looting, burning tires, and instilling fear in citizens, while the tragedy of eleven-year-old Adriana’s death has rightly evoked national grief, the violent response by these youth, while deeply misguided reveals the urgent need to address the wider social breakdowns affecting not just youth, but families and communities across Guyana.
