Luanda — Cultural agents and tour operators' associations will benefit from assistance, said Tuesday the minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Adjany Costa.
The strategy is aimed at easing the restrictions due to covid-19 pandemic, said the minister at the meeting with tourism and cultural agents.
But she said that everything will depend on realistic proposal to be submitted to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
The minister also said a group of cultural and tourist agents will work with technicians from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Planning on a realistic proposal aimed to alleviate the losses caused by covid-19 pandemic.
Regarding economic relief measures in the tourism sector, agents proposed the adoption of credit and financing lines.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, Collins, yesterday distanced himself from Delish Nguwaya, whose firm Drax International was recently controversially awarded a US$1 million contract to supply COVID-19 equipment without going to tender.
Collins said he had no business or personal relationship with Drax International and Nguwaya.
I have no business or personal relationship with any Drax International’s representatives, including Delish Nguwaya.”
Collins’ statement also came shortly after Drax International had issued a statement claiming their transaction with government was procedural, although Finance ministry secretary George Guvamatanga admitted in another leaked memo that they had breached government procurement procedures.
He also disclosed that an order to suspend Drax International’s US$60 million for supply of pharmaceuticals to NatPharm was made on the basis that the goods were over-priced, but went on to order the Finance ministry to go ahead and pay for a consignment of test kits from the same company
“Regarding the suspension of the US$20 million and the cancellation of the US$40 million contracts, Treasury position still stands and will only be reviewed once the fiscal capacity for repayment has improved, review of the pricing structures has been done and proper procurement procedures are observed and finalised in consultation with Treasury,” Guvamatanga wrote.

As said before, this Supreme Court judgment is only implementable with the full co-operation of all stakeholders, but your move to eject some people from the 2014 structures from the offices through your action of last Friday is a big demonstration to the Supreme Court that you and the faction of the MDC-T you lead have some other motives than implementing the court ruling.
I will not go into the details about the right to use Harvest House or the eviction processes that had to be followed if your faction had rights over other members of the 2014 MDC-T structures, but there are people, for instance, like the 2014 women assembly chairperson Lynette Karenyi-Kore who by virtue of her position is still one of the people who are supposed to be part of the extraordinary congress preparation.
