The Roberts Family Development Center has been hosting the Children's Defense Fund's Freedom Schools for over 12 years, serving around 840 students in the six-week literacy-based summer program and providing opportunities for recent graduates from across the nation to recruit teachers of color and encourage them to stay in Sacramento.
