Remembering queer D.C. poet Venus Thrash

Venus Thrash, a Black, lesbian D.C. poet, wrote her first poem when she was in the first grade. Thrash, 52, whose work was nationally acclaimed, died on Saturday, June 19 at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. from heart disease. Her family and 12-year-old son Daniel survive her.
