The ZSE, established in 1894, is one of the continent’s oldest bourses, only a little younger than the oldest — the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), founded in 1883 — and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, established in 1887. For nearly a century it was an enabler of white capital.
