1860 : Signature du concordat entre l’Etat haitien et le Saint Siège

Négocié par le gouvernement Geffrard, ce Concordat comprend 18 articles et stipule, entre autre, une protection spéciale pour l’Eglise Catholique comme étant la religion de la majorité des Haitiens. Il fut ratifié par le Sénat haitien le 1er Août suivant.
