The supporters told The Gleaner that they were informed by the constituency executive that plans are afoot for party leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness to present Senator Kerensia Morrison to constituents as the party's standard-bearer in the next general election.
According to a long-standing party worker in the constituency, Verniel Parker, \"Any decision to put Morrison in the seat will be met with strong resistance by the people, who are tired of outside candidates who have failed over the years to deal with the problems of water and roads facing the constituency.\"
Scores of other supporters expressed similar sentiments and say they are ready to join forces to prevent any outside candidate from running.
Meanwhile, Campbell, who won the seat by 122 votes in 2016, told The Gleaner that he was replaced because some supporters, especially those in the Guys Hill area, made repeated claims to the party that he was not attending to the needs of the constituency.

\tA Catholic University professor has been suspended after students complained he made racist comments on his Twitter account about former President Barack Obama and Senator Kamala Harris, according to The Sun.
John Tieso, who was an adjunct assistant professor at the Busch School of Business at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., initially had his Twitter account suspended when WUSA 9 reported that a student uncovered tweets from his personal Twitter feed that were racist in nature pertaining to Obama and Harris.
WUSA 9 obtained a copy of an anonymous letter from a student at another university that had been sent to the dean of the Busch School of Business last week.
One of the tweets, posted to Tieso’s account on July 8, 2018, had been a retweeted photo of the former president with the caption, “That’s the Obama we all came to know and hate.
Tieso said he deleted his account shortly after conversations with Catholic University officials.

In 2012, Stockton, California, elected 22-year-old Michael Tubbs to his hometown’s city council. From that celebrated victory, to his 2017 rise to mayor of the Central Valley city, media pundits and Democratic Party insiders have hailed Tubbs, calling him one of the Democratic Party’s rising stars.

The bridge should have been renamed long ago. Pettus was a domestic terrorist who fought in a traitor army for the right to claim ownership of human beings. Children aren't brought to Edmund Pettus Bridge to learn about him; families now make the pilgrimage to teach the next generation that men like him can and did lose. That while these men wielded hideous and violent power, there were very brave people who linked arms and faced that violence together in their demand for justice. That heroes like Lewis put on his best $5 suit, along with his trench coat and backpack and fought for Black voting rights.
Things should be called what they are, and the bridge in Selma should be renamed after Lewis. This is the bridge where Lewis once thought he was going to die, having been beaten so badly by White police officers he suffered a broken skull. This is the bridge he crossed repeatedly over the years, eventually arm in arm with the first Black president.
There is a necessary skepticism about the superficial changes being made in this moment. But to honor the legacy of Lewis' life and go beyond symbolic change, we must restore the Voting Rights Act.
Lewis was an activist and a Democratic congressman. He was a role model for those who preach direct action in the streets and those who believe that change comes from within the halls of power. He worked in both spaces, towards the same end: the right for Black Americans to vote.
Lewis, along with so many others on that bridge in 1965, was monumental to the passage of the Voting Rights Act that year. The law, however, was gutted in 2013 by the Supreme Court, and Lewis fought to restore it in Congress. On December 6, 2019, Lewis banged a gavel on the House floor and heralded the approval of the Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the protections of the landmark 1965 legislation.
But that bill is still sitting on Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's desk, where it is likely to remain, along with the promises of the 15th and 19th amendments to the US Constitution, as long as he is in office.
If there's one obvious way to honor Lewis' legacy, it's this: doing everything we can to ensure the right to vote for every American. So we will continue to protest, vote and fight like hell against White supremacy in our neighborhoods and in our government. We demand the Senate passage of the Voting Rights Advancement Act, and we demand new leadership in Washington.

Some carcasses were found clustered around waterholes, while others appeared to have died \"falling flat on their faces,\" according to Niall McCann, director of conservation at United Kingdom charity National Park Rescue.
Live elephants seen nearby appeared physically weak, and one was walking in circles, unable to change direction, observers said. Other species in the area did not appear to have been affected by whatever struck down the elephants.
The Botswana government is testing samples from the dead elephants, but is yet to determine a cause of death.
'Appalling' case
The unusual number of elephant carcasses were first recorded at the start of May, McCann said.
\"It's appalling -- we need to know what the hell is going on,\" he said, adding that he couldn't recall another time when so many elephants had died from a mystery cause.
Botswana is home to 130,000 African elephants -- more than any other country on the continent. The Okavango Delta, where the carcasses were found, is home to around 10% of the country's elephants, McCann said.
Last year, Botswana scrapped an elephant hunting ban it had in place in 2014, sparking international outcry. McCann said poaching could not be ruled out this time, although the tusks were still on the elephants.
\"800 of them are lying around as a magnet for criminals,\" he added.
McCann said there were a number of possibilities for what could have caused the deaths, including an elephant-specific parasite -- or even Covid-19.
\"What I would like to emphasize is that this has the potential to be a public health crisis,\" he said.
Whatever the cause, McCann said it was important to get to the bottom of it as already the loss of elephant life was \"significant globally,\" he said.
The African elephant is classified as vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List. The first Great Elephant Census, a pan-African survey conducted in 2016, revealed that in just seven years between 2007 and 2014 elephant numbers plummeted by at least 30%, or 144,000.

Madam C. J. Walker was born on December 23, 1867 in Delta, Louisiana, the daughter of Owen and Minerva Breedlove. Her parents were former slaves working as sharecroppers and both died when Sarah was a child. As a result, Sarah was forced to move from one household to another. At age seven, she moved in with her sister Louvina and her husband. After suffering abuse from Louvina’s husband, Sarah ran away and married Moses McWilliams when she was 14 years old. In 1885, she gave birth to their daughter Lelia. Two years later, Moses was murdered by a White lynch mob.
After this tragedy, Sarah moved with her daughter to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked as a cook and housecleaner. Unfortunately, all of the stress and hardship had begun to take its toll on her and she found her hair falling out. She tried several products which claimed would help her condition but to no avail. At this point Sarah had a dream in which a “big Black man appeared to me and told me what to mix up for my hair. Some of the remedy was grown in Africa, but I sent for it, put it on my scalp, and in a few weeks my hair was coming in faster than it had ever fallen out.” After she shared her formula with some friends and found it successful for them as well, she realized that there were almost no hair products available for Blacks. She therefore decided to go into business, selling hair products to Black women.
In 1905 Sarah’s brother died and she moved to Denver, Colorado to live with her sister-in-law. When she arrived in Denver she had only $2.00 in her pocket yet she worked during the day as a cook in order to finance her part time business. At this point she met Charles Joseph “C.J.” Walker, a newspaperman with an innate ability for marketing. She married Walker on January 4, 1906 and the couple set up the “Madam CJ Walker Manufacturing Company” and began placing advertisements in Black newspapers throughout the United States.
