Women Against Violence (WAV) and CVUU Social Justice Committee hosted a celebration of Kwanzaa on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalist Church.

This year marks the 58th year of Kwanzaa, founded in 1966 in California by Dr. Maulana Karenga, a college professor, as an annual celebration of African American culture from December 26 to January 1. It is based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West, East, as well as Southeast Africa.
