Jamaica Reports 14 New Coronavirus Cases Just Days After Reopening Its Borders – Free Press of Jacksonville

By Parker Diakite – Jamaica has recorded 14 new coronavirus cases just days after opening its borders to international tourists, bringing the countries total to 652 confirmed cases.

Six of the new cases are non-residents – with five of them staying in St. James and the other one in Westmoreland.

hese latest COVID-19 cases brings the total of number imported cases to 148.

Officials have not stated whether they would reconsider closing its borders to international tourists following the recent cases.

Only businesses within the Corridor who have been trained, assessed, and cleared for opening are allowed to conduct business, according to a directive from The Ministry of Tourism.
