"An inquest was held by Justice of the Peace T.M. Richards on September 24, 1928 over the killing of :Coote Simpsons, Negro, Twenty-second street, who was killed by the rifle of a Florida National Guardsman on special detail duty at noon on September 23, 1928 for refusing to leave his bicycle and go to work gathering bodies and cleaning up after the huricane that hit Palm Beach, Fl. on September 16, 1928. "The jury absolved the national guardsman from all blame in the afair." in the killing.
