The trial of Sudan's toppled strongman Omar al-Bashir over his role in the 1989 military coup that brought him to power was adjourned to September 22, the judge said on Tuesday.
The judge said the hearing was \"procedural\" and that requests were being considered to change the packed courtroom to meet coronavirus measures.
The short-lived trial was broadcast on Sudan TV. Bashir was on trial with 27 other defendants, who could face the death penalty.
Bashir seized power following an Islamist-backed military coup in 1989.
He stayed in power for 30 years before being overthrown on April 11, 2019 after several months of youth-led street demonstrations.
Bashir is also wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face charges of genocide and crimes against humanity in the western region of Darfur.
The United Nations estimates 300,000 people were killed and 2.5 million displaced in the conflict since 2003.
Sudan's transitional government has agreed that Bashir would face the ICC.
However, an August 31 peace deal with rebel groups includes the commitment to set up a special court for crimes in Darfur, and that Bashir should also stand trial before that.
[HRW] Kinshasa -- The Congolese authorities and the United Nations have not done enough to hold human rights violators to account and deliver justice to victims a decade after the landmark UN Congo Mapping Exercise Report was published in October 2010, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch said today.
LAHORE, Pakistan, (Reuters) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani has said the logistical challenge of keeping 16 teams in a bio-secure bubble to limit the risk of COVID-19 makes staging the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia this year “impossible”.
The governing International Cricket Council (ICC) is exploring contingency plans but has deferred a decision on the tournament until July.
While Australia has slowed novel coronavirus infections to a trickle, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings said on Tuesday any expectations that the tournament would go ahead as planned in October-November were “unrealistic”.
Mani, an ICC board member, said in a virtual media briefing on Wednesday that the Australian government was still being “very cautious” about the COVID-19 risk.
Mani expected the tournament to be rescheduled to 2021, with the edition scheduled for next year in India moved to 2022.

Cricket Australia, in agreement with Zimbabwe Cricket, announced on Tuesday that the one-day international series that was due to be played in August has been postponed, the ICC website reported. The tour has been postponed indefinitely, becoming the latest series to be pushed ahead due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ODIs were originally scheduled to be played on 9, 12 and 15 August. The release from Cricket Australia said that factors were considered before deciding to postpone the series were – the short length of the series, the significant bio-security measures that would need to be implemented prior to August, and concern for the health and safety of players, match officials, and volunteers. While we are disappointed to postpone the series, CA and ZC agree that in the best interest of players, match officials, volunteers as well as our fans, that this is the most practical and sensible decision, said Nick Hockley the interim CEO of Cricket Australia. We are committed to working with Zimbabwe Cricket on alternative dates to reschedule. Givemore Makoni, the acting managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket, also stated that the two boards are working closely on rescheduling the series. We were excited about facing Australia but, given the circumstances, deferring the tour was the only option. We are, however, looking forward to the rescheduling of the series as soon as practically possible, he said. Zimbabwe has been preparing for the tour to Australia for some time, although there were always fears that the coronavirus outbreak would scupper the tour. The southern African nations cricketing fortunes have been on the wane for a while and tours to the bigger cricketing countries have been few and far in between. The Australian tour would have been beneficial for Zimbabwe, as it was a chance to show that the country was still a force to reckon with. Afghanistan is due to visit Zimbabwe either in July or August.

Sudan's public prosecutor announced on Monday the discovery of a mass grave containing conscripts allegedly killed after trying to flee a military camp in 1998 under ousted president Omar al-Bashir's regime.
A investigating committee \"found the mass grave in the past four days after hearing witness accounts,\" about killings at Ailafoon military camp, public prosecutor Tagelsir al-Hebr told reporters in Khartoum.
Ailafoon military camp, located southeast of the capital Khartoum, was used for training new conscripts under Bashir's rule.
Following Bashir's ouster last year, the country has since August been led by a civilian-majority administration presiding over a three-year transitional period.
Sudanese authorities have vowed to probe \"violations\" committed under Bashir as well as violence during last year's protests against his rule.
Khartoum — Sudan's Attorney General, Tajelsir El Hibir says that the remaining International Criminal Court (ICC) suspects might not necessarily stand trial in The Hague, because of \"sovereignty and other legal issues\".
On Monday, Radio Dabanga reported that former Darfur janjaweed leader Ali Abdelrahman (aka Kushayb*), made his first appearance before International Criminal Court (ICC) Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala in The Hague to hear charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Arrest warrants
In 2007, the ICC issued arrest warrants against former Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmed Haroun, and former janjaweed leader Ali Kushayb for numerous counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The court issued a first arrest warrant against Omar Al Bashir for war crimes and crimes against humanity in 2009.
In 2011, the ICC confirmed the charges of war crimes brought by the court's prosecutor against Abdallah Banda, former leader of the Justice and Equality rebel movement, and committed him to trial.
