There are many documented barriers when it comes to Black people an mental health. In my view the most problematic is the stigmatization around mental health. It has been noted that often that Black people would rather turn to church, friends or healing circles than seek professional help. Black people need to know that it is OK to see professional help and it often will benefit them more that informal channels.
