Great Queens of Africa

Queen Amina came to power between 1588 and 1589 in the Ancient Nigerian Kingdom of Zaria. A brilliant military strategist she fought many wars and won them all. She is credited with the building of the famous Zaria Wall. Today she is remembered as "Amina, Yar Bakwa ta san rana" meaning "Amina , daughter of Nikatau, a woman as capable as any man".
