Harris County Democrats have selected former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner as their candidate to fill the seat vacated by the late U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. Turner's long-standing political career and the endorsement from Jackson Lee’s children have made him a favored candidate for the heavily Democratic 18th Congressional District.
