On Sunday, May 31, Ciara posted a message about unity and change to her 6-year-old son Future Zahir Wilburn by rapper Future, her ex-fiancé.

I’m praying that the losses of our Black Kings and Queens won’t be in vain,” Ciara wrote with a photo of her and Wilburn smiling.

“What a beautiful message it’s scary for people with young black kids.

“😢 I don’t have a child yet, but I can’t help but feel the pain for these young black boys.

Among fans chiming in on Ciara’s post was her husband, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who is Wilburn’s stepdad.
