TT’s Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts Dr. Nyan Gadsy-Dolly says Carnival 2021 will not be canceled.

Several carnivals throughout the region and internationally have been canceled or postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gadbsy-Dolly said, at the end of June the ministry would be in a much better position to say what will happen.

“What we are clear about though is that we are not canceling Carnival, but it is just the form of it that we are looking at.

That will also affect how many artistes can be hired…”

She added that the ministry and its team also wanted to have discussions with artistes as they have been putting forward points of views about events and whether physical distancing would affect the capacity of any gathering.
