As the daughter of a prominent black minister, Aretha's musical began in her father's

church in Detroit. At age 18 she began singing professionally. Aretha's gospel training

greatly influenced the soulful tunes, she often wrote and produced herself. She became

known as the "Queen of Soul" due to the popularity of her songs. Some of her popular

recordings include:
