Angola: Over 400 People Test Positive for HIV/Aids in Bié

Cuito — At least 434 people out of a total of 13,201 people have tested positive for HIV/AIDS from January to May this year in central Bie, said Thursday the provincial supervisor of the HIV/AIDS program, Adelino Camato.

The official also pointed out that among the recorded number that tested positive there are 166 pregnant women, 253 adults and 15 children and that there is an increase of 73 cases compared to the same period last year.

Of the 13,201 tested, there was a reduction of 97 cases in relation to the previous period.

With a population of 1.7 million inhabitants, the province controls 168 HIV/AIDS counseling and testing rooms placed at health units.
