Nationwide — Just weeks after recovering from the deadly coronavirus, Shiela Lucas, a 71-year old grandmother from Washington, DC has tragically died after being shot while protecting her granddaughter during an altercation with two other women.

According to reports, the shooting happened after two women had a confrontation inside a Giant supermarket.

Lucas was walking back home with her daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren when the women, whom they didn’t know, returned and started another confrontation.

Lucas’ son, Robert J. Alston Jr., said Lucas stepped in to try to protect her granddaughter when someone started shooting.
